Sister said i have mci. what is that?

MCI: Mild cognitive impairment can present in different ways. Pure amnestic(short term memory loss) mci is now known to be pre alzheimers- 12-15% of these patients will progresss to ad per year. Non- amnestic mci where other areas of brain function are affected is not pre ad; it may remain stable. Both types of mci need close follow up to monitor for progression of illness.
