Social issues: It depends obviously on the culture, but in china there is an issue with women being trafficked for money, especially minority or immigrants like those from north korea. Families can negotiate prices for women to marry, like a purchase. It can affect future populations as there may not be enough youngsters to support an aging population, making it "top heavy".
