Heart failure...: Sometimes, people with a heart attack will develop heart failure, where the heart is unable to pump the blood to the body and lungs. When this occurs, fluid leaks out of the blood vessels. When this occurs in the lungs, the excess fluid can get coughed up and result in "foaming of the mouth." acutely, diuretics can be given to get rid of the excess fluid.
