A member asked:

Is a clearly defined black loop in the mid-left bowel on abdominal x-ray significant if a previous x-ray five days earlier did not show the loop?

Was bowel clean: Before x-ray? Probably feces-after evacuation it will probably be gone- not to worry!

Probably not: Bowel loops contract (peristalsis) and this helps to move its contents through the GI tract. The x-ray picture of your abdomen is one moment in time. Bowel loops constantly change and it is probably not significant but needs to be confirmed with your doctor. The caliber of the bowel is important, particularly if there is a segment that is dilated compared to an adjacent part.

Not likely: What you are describing is just an air-filled loop of bowel. This is a normal finding and because the bowel contents move constantly, it is normal that this would change from day to day.
