Yes: Often high blood pressure requires multiple medications to control. I am hesitant to use metoprolol (a beta blocker) with Clonidine (an Alpha agonist) as they can both lead to bradycardia or slow heart rate, but often it is necessary or even useful. My biggest concern for Clonidine is that it can cause sedation and make you feel very tired.
