Several weeks: There is pain associated with a knee replacement. We can minimize the pain with careful surgical techniques and multi-modal pain management techniques. This often includes the use of narcotic medications such as oxycodone. Patients may use this drug for 2-12 weeks after surgery. I prefer that my patients stop the drug as soon as they can after the surgery.
