Toddler cough: Chronic cough in toddlers can have many causes. While asthma is certainly high on the list, there are other things possible as well. You have to consider infections, inhaled foreign bodies (toddlers put everything in mouths and can accidently inhale), irritants such as smoke and perfumes. Best to have your pediatrician help sort out the different possibilities and suggest treatment.

Cough: Depending on how long he has had it and when it is triggered, he may have asthma or just an acute infection. His pediatrician should be able to tell, and if need be an allergist can help him too.
