Probably colic: A 1 mo. Old not pooping for 37 hours is not serious or unusual; it's ok for babies to go 4 or 5 days between bm's. While not serious, the reason for concern is his discomfort; this is almost certainly colic, not serious but distressing. If he is nursing it could be caused by something his mom is eating, if on formula she might try a diff. Type. See http://bit.Ly/19e1jux for other ways to treat it.

Straining: Babies strain when having a bowel movement. This a normal condition.If mother is breast feeding, infant can go as long as a week without having a stool. In this case use a glycerin suppository for infant's pain relief.
