Don't Treat the Test: Many times in thyroid disease it may take some time for the laboratory values to catch up to the actual clinical symptomology the patient is experiencing. If it has been five months since your last thyroid hormone level testing as well as thyroid stimulating hormone test, it may be time to take another snapshot and see if these levels have changed or caught up to your clinical symptoms.

Normal TSH: Your symptoms could be due to an underactive thyroid gland, but if your blood tests included a TSH level and this was normal, it indicates that your thyroid gland is not the cause of your symptoms.
