There are many: Sleep disorders are broken down into two types: ones that cause you to be sleepy, and ones that cause you to not fall asleep or stay asleep. Those are the two main, broad categories. Under each are dozens of individual disorders.

Sleep disorders: The most common are Insomnias and parasomnias. Primary and secondary insomnia refer to inadequate sleep for various reasons. Parasomnias are abnormalities of sleep such as sleep walking, nightmares, sleep terrors etc.
