I just took my bp on my left arm. 147/97. i immediately went to the right arm. 134/84. then back to the left 138/89. what does this mean?

Nothing: This is normal variation in your blood pressure, and in your device. A consistent difference of > 15 mmhg between the 2 arms may indicate a blockage in the subclavian artery to the arm with the owed blood pressure.
