Just diagnosed with mild copd i also have a 5.2cm bullae i have become more out of breath. is this more likely due to the bullae rather than mild copd

Combination: I don't know how the diagnosis of mild was made but a poor fev1 once COPD is established is our basis and in view of large bullae, it seem it is worse than stated. The bullae compresses the normal tissues and the COPD on its own decreases breathing ability. Have your o2 and co2 determined to see if correcting them can help. Oh, and use your meds, please and no smoking if you did.

Copd: The bulla is a fixed pulmonary process. The COPD is more dynamic and likely accounts for symptoms. However if cyst continues to enlarge , surgical resection can be done which may also improve lung fxcn as its removal will give the other airways more room to ecpand.
