Will likely resolve: Not sure how long ago you had the piercing done, but most likely the clot will resolve itself in a week or two. The tongue is a very vascular structure (has good blood supply) and can bleed quite a bit when injured. But also because of this good blood supply, injury to the tongue often heals quite well, and rather quickly. So, if after 2 wks and the clot is not any better, consult doc. Good luck.

Piercing: Dentist's hate tongue piercings. They can cause excessive wear to the backs of teeth, damage the inside gum tissues, and damage ther tongue. A blood clot is not unusual after surgery (placing the piercing), and should be fully resolved in 2 weeks. If not completely resolved in 2 weeks see your Dentist.
