3000 per year: Throughout the world, there are 1000-3000 cases of plague reported each year, usually from Africa, southern Asia, and South America. There are an additional unknown number of unreported cases, as reporting is often incomplete in developing countries.

Worldwide Plague: There are regions of the world that have had over 10, 000 cases of plague over the last 10 years and other regions of the world where the data simply isn't available. So plague is still out there and there are likely many thousands of cases taking place annually throughout the globe.
