Knowing: Knowing before hand what to expect does wonders in reducing stress. Ask to have the whole thing explained to you from beginning to end. Know how to get to the hospital and where you need to park, sign in, etc. Ask about what goes on in the operating room, recovery room, and in the days after surgery. The more you know the less you will worry.
