Takes time: Can take up to 6-12 months for swelling to go away. Pt can help regain function of the foot and toes. Take care to wear shoes that fit. Trace out your foot on a piece of paper and overlay a shoe you are thinking of wearing to to make sure it is the right size (most woman wear shoes a bit on the tight side to start with).

Hammertoe: You can expect swelling for a time - my surgeries do not swell for 6 months , more like 6 weeks - and being unable to wear fashionable shoes for the same time. Be patient and allow healing to take place and follow the advice of your surgeon. Also ask questions to which you need answers.

Follow instructions: For optimum results follow your doctors advice. Rest, elevate, keep the bandage dry and clean and follow up as recommended.
