A member asked:

Please tell me can frequent ear infections be hereditary?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not really: Ear infections are caused by bacteria. However, some families probably have a tendency to have eustacian tube dysfunction, which makes fluid in the middle ear space more common, providing a better place for bacteria to grow.
