A member asked:

Can it be possible for you to get a hib vaccination as an adult?

4 doctors weighed in across 2 answers

Yes: Most would consider it unnecessary. Hib disease is primarily a risk for those under 6 years of age. There is some capacity for older kids and adults to acquire some natural resistance to hib disease with age, which is thought to be the reason it struck mostly younger kids/infants. The vaccine is available, and comparatively inexpensive, but unlikely to be paid by insurance on an adult.

Only for Children: Hib vaccine is licenced to be given to children 6months to 71 months of age It is not indicated for use in adults Some studies suggest that it may be beneficial in patients who have Sickle Cell Disease,HIV or Leukemia or have had Spleenctomy
