A member asked:

Should i be concerned if my mother has chronic dry eyes and some nights her eyes hurt/purn does anyone know what she can do for this besides drops?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Dry eyes!: Start with artificial tears routinely (one drop 4 times a day every day), oral omega-3's, and warm compresses. Next, medicated drops (restasis, mild steroid drops, NSAID drops) or punctal occlusion may be helpful. A humidifier in the home may be helpful. Omega 3's work most for my patients. Systane night time gel also.
