Very serious: Long-term survival is very unlikely if the diagnosis is correct, but he may get a good result with today's platinum-based chemotherapy. No "alternative-complementary" medicines will touch the actual biology of lung cancer, but mind-body supportive measures may make him feel somewhat better and you can help him keep well-nourished, physically fit and in good spirits.

Be concerned: Stage 4 lung cancer has an overall poor prognosis. The therapy associated with any positive effects would be chemotherapy and/or radiation. While a cure can occur, it is a rare event with stage 4. Alternative therapies can be explored, but realize that most don't claim to cure. If you look at the advertizements closely, they will treat but never claim to cure. Standard therapy- 15% overall cure.
