Yes: Gestational diabetes can occur anytime during pregnancy. If you have symptoms/signs of diabetes, you should get tested again (just blood tests) despite the fact that you'd tested negative earlier on in pregnancy.

Yes: Gestational diabetes occurs in pregnancy and early testing is mainly for pts who are at risk and may already be diabetic. We usually test again after 24 weeks to see if gdm has developed & if glycemic control is needed with diet, exercise, insulin, or all of the above. An early test does not rule out gdm later in pregnancy.

Yes: Gestational diabetes is the result of excessive sugar and carbohydrate intake which causes high blood sugar levels, which then make your Insulin levels rise. Plus the hormone changes in preg make prob worse. . Over time the chronically high Insulin levels lead to Insulin resistance and you will need to make higher and higher levels of insulin. You must improve your diet or you will end up with dm.
