Sometimes there is : Numbness present from the nerve being compressed by the disc herniation that can resolve or persist after surgery ; sometimes the surgery leads to inflammation of the nerve which can lead to numbness that can also resolve or persist in the area that nerve supplies but if you have one sided body numbness you should go immediately to the er to make sure there is nothing else happening
