Work the abs.: You can make the abs stronger by working them - crunches, knee lifts, roman chair, twists for the obliques. Now, the muscles in question are individually small and weaker, so don't load on the weight for these exercises. Do slow, controlled movements and high reps per set - maybe 20-30. Remember, slow and controlled.
