Unfortunately yes: Numerous studies have shown that obesity at birth increases one's risk of being obese in adulthood. The risk also depends on whether or not your parents are obese. If one parent is obese, the risk of the child's obesity increases from 7% to 40%. If you are no longer obese, keep it that way by continuing to be active and be mindful of what you eat.
