So-so: Spinals can be used for multitude of surgeries and it is not impossible to do a hysterectomy with the spinal. However, if the surgery is laparoscopic, a spinal might not work. And for any regional anesthetics (spinal/epidural/local), general anesthesia is the back up in case the regional proves inadequate either at the start or during the time of surgery.
