Depends: It depends on the problem and which you prefer. I am biased since I am a podiatrist.

Specializes in Podiatry

Podiatrist: Although there are many orthopedic doctors who are as good as a podiatrist, podiatry specializes in foot and ankle problems as well as surgery.

Podiatrists: Podiatrists concentrate on all aspects of foot and ankle problems. Will be able to offer a full range of treatments from conservative to surgery, based on their training. Few orthopedist concentrate on just foot and ankle problems and those that have special training in that area are mainly limited to just surgical options.

Podiatrist: Both are fine as long as you are comfortable with what is going to be done. Podiatrists spend all their training on foot and ankle disorders during their training.
