Small LV: Hypoplastic left heart syndrome typically has underdevelopment of the left ventricle, and abnormalities of the mitral valve (leading into the left ventricle), the aortic valve (leading out of the heart), and the aorta (providing blood flow to the body.) every baby is a little different, but the pathways for treatment have common features. Usually, a series of three surgeries are required.
