Wouldn't it be great: If we had the ability to convince an addict that they have a real problem and that they need help. People often don't see what they refuse to see. I would share your concerns and even offer the addict in your life to take them to a 12 step program. But remember, that you can't control what an addict thinks or does.

Al Anon: I think the only thing that works for addiction is an event known as an intervention. Someone with expertise prepares the family and friends to form together to prevent a united front asking an addict to get to detox and treatment. But, while the addict suffers, so do those who care and love them. There is a program for you known as al- anon. This can be a very healing fellowship for you.
