Not recommended: Was the medication prescribed specifically for your baby? This is a very strong medication which is rarely used for young infants. It contains a narcotic. Be sure to talk with your doctor before giving any medication to a child younger than 4 years old. Cough suppressants are not recommended for children- they don't work very well and many children have increased side effects from them.
