Better in schools..: While cosmetic dentistry is not one of the 8 accredited specialties in dentistry, you can still get training courses in schools and some centers. Please beware to weed out the programs and centers who merely make a "sales person" out of you, rather than really training you for advanced techniques in cosmetic dentistry. / good luck.

There is no such specialty as Cosmetic Dentistry. It is a focus of attention on appearance- related Dentistry. The only specialty that covers this as part of the 3 year training is and always has been Prosthodontics.

Post-Doct. Education: "Cosmetic Dentistry" is not a recognized speciality by the American Dental Association. So, those dentists who focus primarily on that field have taken post-doctoral education on their own. They've chosen the courses to take, which books/journals to read, which seminars to attend, how much to learn, and so on. Some programs offer "diplomas" or "certificates," but they are not legally required.
