Nighttime Sleep: Daytime napping can create a vicious cycle. The daytime sleep can interfere with nighttime sleep, causing insomnia, so that the person is tired the next day, and wants to take a nap the next afternoon. The solution is to stay too busy to sleep during the day. Doing something active (like going for a walk or doing yardwork) may help someone stay awake until bedtime.

Good night of sleep: Daytime somnolence is usually due to poor quality or quantity of sleep the night before. Practice good sleep hygiene and see your pcp if you continue to have symptoms to make sure you don't have a sleep disorder.
