Fasting: I many cultures fasting (not eating) is used for short periods of time. Water has no calories and you must stay well hydrated.This is not a good way to lose weight for anyone;a well balanced diet with extra fruits and veggies, low fat foods, less refined wheat(white bread), and most importantly:exercise.
