I was prescribed to phenazopyridine 200 mg and sulfamethoxazole-tmp ds for uti. i got really hot and sick today, can i atleast stop taking the first?

Yes: The Phenazopyridine treats the discomfort of the uti. However, it is more likely that you are allergic to the antibiotic. Contact your doctor's office before they close for the weekend and try to get a different antibiotic.

Pyridium (phenazopyridine) 4 symptoms: Phenazopyridine or Pyridium (phenazopyridine) is only used here to ease the discomfort of the UTI and does not treat/kill the bacteria. The sulfamethoxazole-tmp is the antibiotic which can kill the bacteria, thus treating the infection itself. So, Phenazopyridine is not essential or needed for UTI treatment. Consult doc if your symptoms persist. Good luck.
