PET uptake can be up: Pet uptake can go up with any kind of inflammation also. So it is not necessarily due to cancer getting worse or spreading. I think it is likely due to the stent.

Another possibility: Sometimes see excretion from liver, gall bladder visualization, on pet scan. Perhaps some of uptake related to liver excretion. It is true that uptake can be seen post surgical due to metabolic repair at surgical site. Inflammation is also another cause of abnormal uptake.
