A member asked:

Is a medical doc or others mental professionals required to keep you alive even if you want to die?

Yes: Medical providers generally enter the field of medicine to promote good health and well-being. It is not in our nature or work ethic to cause disease or death. Unless a patient has full mental capacity and can show proof of end of life decisions (polst, dnr etc) we will do everything in our capacity to maintain life and health if ethically appropriate.
