Spot on.: Sounds like you are doing it. Viral illnesses resolve on their own. Treatment is focused on reducing the symptoms. Based on your symptoms, vocal rest, warm to hot gargles, soothing liquids, anti inflammatories such as Ibuprofen and potentially cough suppression seem best.

Saline: Gargling with salt water may help to reduce the degree of swelling of the vocal cords, but generally time is the great healer. You will recover uneventfully, but be patient.

Laryngitis: Boil freshly sliced, peeled ginger root in water until the tea is tan. Add 3 tbsp of honey. Sip to help relieve sore throat pain and to accelerate healing of laryngitis. Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Or gargle with aloe vera juice twice a day. Add honey ; a small amt. Of lemon juice to chamomile tea. *.
