Better not: A cough makes a strep throat less likely. It is better to see your provider and be evaluated, because if you do need antibiotics the pills you have won't be enough for full treatment.

Viral infection: The combination of sore throat, hoarseness, and dry cough are almost always due to a viral infection and antibiotics are not effective for these infections. If symptoms persist a throat and chest exam along with a throat culture would be advisable.
