i twisted my ankle and pull the muscle in the back of my ankle, and now i have mild pain in ankle, knee, and thigh. could this be a strain?

Strain of calf: Strain means a torn muscle.Mostly commonly it is the calf muscles, the gastrosoleus complex. But an achilles tendon injury can be confused with it.See a doctor to make sure it is not an achilles tendon injury, that needs active treatment.

Ankle: Yes it could be . But as stated it could also be something more. An exam is in order to answer that question at least.
