Codeine Allergy: First of all, there is no need to worry about darvocet since it and other Propoxyphene containing products no longer is on the market. The reactions you describe with Codeine are adverse effects, not allergies. If you truly need an opiate analgesic, pretreatment with Benadryl (diphenhydramine) can reduce or eliminate the itching cased by opiates in some patients.
