Limited benefit: Karyotyping will certainly pick up the main abnormalities in number of chromosomes.With an extended level of profaze banding some lesser anomalies can be detected.However, normal chromosome studies does not eliminate all possible birth defect.When detected, the study permits awareness of the expected problems.No treatment can fix a chromosome defect.
