Surveillance echo's: Bicuspid av is the most common congenital valvular anomaly. The av, having only 2 leaflets (instead of 3) is more prone to wearing down resulting in either leaking or obstruction (stenosis). If those things happen and result in severe dysfunction and symptoms of chest pain/shortness of breath/syncope the valve might need to be surgically replaced. Meds cannot really treat it. Depends on severity: Aortic valve regurgitation cannot be cured with medications. Depending on the severity of the regurgitation, they can observe it if it is mild to moderate. Observing is different than ignoring it. If it is severe, they can either repair it or replace it, both options are surgical. Drugs are used to decrease the regurgitation by lowering the blood pressure and preventing accumulation of fluid.
