Egg good for 12 hour: Leading up to ovulation the hormone estrogen makes the mucus clear and stretchy like egg white. Sperm can live in this good mucus for several days. When the egg is released it is only good for fertilization for about 12 hours. So its good to have intercourse before the ovulation actually occurs then to wait til its happening.
