Another idea: While a problem like a disc is clearly possibile, there are other ideas. With flu (and vaccine) season, i've been seeing lots of people with "parsonage-turner syndrome", aka "inflammatory brachial plexopathy." sometimes triggered by vaccines, not always. Causes severe shoulder pain, arm pain, weakness. Acts like multiple pinched nerves or nerve roots. Not rare, as mistakenly believed. Google it.
