Anorexia nervosa: Many people use these terms interchangeably, but they are actually different. Anorexia means "without appetite" -- and can happen with many medical illnesses including cancer. Anorexia nervosa is an eating disorder where the person purposefully restricts eating due to fears of becoming fat, etc. The person may actually feel hunger but exert control over "giving in" to appetite for food.
