Never check yourself: Only a doctor or trained OB nurse should check your cervix, using a special sterile glove. Trying to check yourself can be dangerous - you can introduce bacteria, cause a serious infection, accidentally break your water too soon, trigger preterm labor, or even injury the baby. If you are concerned that you may be in labor, go to your hospital labor & delivery ward to be properly checked.
