A member asked:

Can a sudden weight change from diuretic cause a loss of balance?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Diuretics don't get rid of fat, they just cause you to urinate out more water, and can therefore cause dehydration. When you are dehydrated, blood volume is reduced (less water in the bloodstream), so sudden position changes can easily cause a drop in blood pressure ("orthostatic hypotension"), which can cause lightheadedness, loss of balance, and even possibly passing out.
