No!: Chickenpox used to be very common. According to the cdc, about 4 million people would get the disease each year; about 10, 600 people were hospitalized and 100 to 150 died each year because of it. Now there is a vaccine, the first dose of which is given at 12 months of age. There is absolutely no reason to voluntarily expose children to chickenpox (as was done in the past). Hope that helps!
