I am having tested for adhd, what do they do?

ADHD testing is...: Actually very interesting. They will probably administer several pencil/paper tests, maybe a computer test, and ask lots and lots of questions. Testing generally takes 2-3 hours so eat a healthy meal before and wear comfortable clothing. Most importantly... Relax. These are not "pass/fail" tests; they are for diagnosis only and provide a wealth of information. Good luck on your journey!

Performance: ADHD testing should include measures of executive performance. While I can't tell you what tests they will give, they are painless and should measure attention across several dimensions.

Confusing question: No one must be tested for anything, you are free to live your life in whatever state of function you have. If your question is do you need testing before qualifying for Ritalin (methylphenidate) treatment, the answer is yes.The feds follow this as a controlled drug.A physician who prescribes this without documenting need can lose his/her license. Those in possession of the drug without prescription can end up jailed.

Yes: As an adult, if you did not have ADHD as a child, have not had a brain injury or infection, it is unlikely you have aDHD. You should have an appropriate evaluation to determine what you are dealing with.
