Professional help: Very few people are able to pull themselves completely out of an addiction "spiral." Ultimately, you have to do the heavy lifting, but there are people who can help you learn to use the tools you need to get sober and remain that way. However, the route you take may depend on your drug(s) of choice. Check online on chemical dependency programs in your area. There are also self-help programs-AA/NA

First comes treatment and detox and then comes a program to keep you clean and healing so that your life gets to be productive and purposeful. Treatment is a fancy word for equation.
