Arthus reaction: The arthus reaction may result rarely after vaccination with Diphtheria and Tetanus toxoid. The symptoms may include pain, swelling, induration (hardening of the tissue), bleeding, and sometimes necrosis (tissue death). It is self-limited and usually lasts for about one day. More important is the need to avoid receiving the vaccine again for a minimum of 10 years.
